The Latin American Studies Program offers a variety of courses and events that promote an understanding of Latin America and the Caribbean as well as Latino/Hispanic populations of the United States. The program includes a strong emphasis on community education and involvement that is demonstrated through newspaper and television communications as well as timely public events. LAS offers a B.A. in Latin American Studies and an interdisciplinary minor in Latin American Area Studies and hosts the annual UCF Latin American Cultural Festival of Orlando.
Introduction to contemporary issues in Latin America including, but not limited to, the preservation of the Amazon rainforests, the Panamá Canal, the economic embargo of Cuba, NAFTA, drug trafficking, and immigration. Read more course details.

From July 11 to July 15, professors Rudy McDaniel (School of Visual Arts and Design) and José Maunez-Cuadra (School of Visual Arts and Design and Latin American Studies) traveled to Puntarenas, Costa Rica to deliver a hands-on workshop to nine faculty at the University of Costa Rica, Pacific Campus.
